Thaw pie shell and bake according to box directions.
Combine milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a medium microwaveable bowl and mix well. Some ingredients may not blend well until during/after heating.

Pour into pie shell. Let pie rest until it is room temperature. Place in the refrigerator until filling has set.

Banana Variation: Use 1/4 c. granulated sugar and 1/4 c. brown sugar instead of the sugar amount indicated in the base recipe. Slice banana(s) and line the baked pie shell with them, pouring pie filling on top.
Butterscotch Variation: Use 1/2 c. granulated sugar and 1/2 c. brown sugar instead of the sugar amount indicated in the base recipe.
Chocolate Variation: Use 2/3 c. granulated sugar and 3 tablespoons cocoa powder instead of the sugar amount indicated in the base recipe.
Lemon Variation: Use juice from 1/2 of a lemon and 1 c. granulated sugar, instead of the sugar amount indicated in the base recipe.
