  13. Make ready 2 tablespoons Water
  14. Get 1 tablespoon Sesame Oil
  15. Get 1 tablespoon Rice Vinegar
  16. Take <Soup Ingredients>
  17. Take 1 cup Chicken Stock *OR 1 cup Water & 1 teaspoon Asian Chicken Bouillon Powder
  18. Prepare 1 small piece Ginger *grated
  19. Take 1/2-1 teaspoon Salt
  20. Prepare 1 tablespoon Mirin
  21. Get 1/2 tablespoon Soy Sauce
  22. Get White Pepper as required

A modernized eight treasure rice that tastes better than the traditional version. The recipe uses ingredients that are easy to source. Stir thoroughly until the sugar melts and the rice is evenly coated with oil. Press the seasoned rice into the bowl with the toppings.

Instructions to make Eight Treasures Stir-fry:
  1. Place the Soup ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Check the flavour and adjust it to suit your taste.
  2. Place Potato Starch and Water in a small bowl or cup and mix well.
  3. All main ingredients should be cut or sliced to small pieces if large, so that it would be easy to eat.
  4. Heat Sesame Oil in a large frying pan or wok over high heat, cook Pork and Vegetables for a few minutes, then add Squid, Prawns and Shiitake (or other mushrooms).
  5. Add the soup and cook a few more minutes until vegetables are cooked.
  6. Stir the Potato Starch mixture once again, then add it to the stir-fry a small amount at a time, stirring well, until the soup is thickened. *Note: You probably don’t need to use all the starch mixture.
  7. Sprinkle Rice Vinegar over and stir.
  8. Enjoy with freshly cooked rice.
